Make a Difference - Your Contributions Help!

Donate

Sharp Memorial UMC provides many ways for you to give offerings, contributions, one-time donations, love gifts, memorial offerings, recurring contributions, and more to support our mission.  Your information is safe and secure with whichever option you choose.

Automatic payments:  Contributions can be made through your personal bank account, like a recurring utility bill, or mortgage payment.  The biller would be Sharp Memorial UMC, or SMUMC, and the mailing address is P. O. Box 66, Young Harris, GA.  Select the amount you wish to send and frequency you would like your bank to send your contribution.  The bank handles the rest on your behalf and Sharp’s Treasurer receives the contributions.

In person: Offerings and contributions are accepted during worship via check, cash and online.  Our check and cash contributions may also be dropped off in person at the church office.

Online: Offerings and contributions may be made online (through the donate button above), or with the QR code, anytime from anywhere. How convenient! You may also scan the QR Code (above) to send contributions.  Both options use PayPal to submit offerings and contributions.  The difference between them is that the QR Code will ask you to log in with a PayPal account and includes a place to note with where you would like to designate the funds being given.

Qualified Charitable Contributions: Another way to give offerings and contributions is through Qualified Charitable Contributions, or QCDs.  A QCD is a distribution made directly by the trustee of an individual retirement arrangement (IRA), to certain qualified organizations such as Sharp Memorial UMC.  SEP IRAs and Simple IRAs are not included here unless they are inactive plans. Under certain circumstances, QCDs may be made from a Roth IRA.  QCDs are a mechanism whereby individuals 70 ½ years or older can contribute to a qualified charity.  The contribution is not included in income or allowed as a charitable deduction.  Most contributions are non-deductible since the Standard Deduction was increased significantly with the SECURE ACT of 2019.  For more information, contact your IRA custodian, your Tax advisor, or visit www.irs.gov and search Qualified Charitable Distributions.  Also, you may want to review Publication 526 and Publication 590-B at the IRS website.
